While maintaining identical overall dimensions, mounting arrangements, and Centre height as SN and SNA housings, the SNH Series incorporates significant structural enhancements to deliver superior strength, sealing efficiency, and operational reliability.
The SNH Series is specifically designed for medium to heavy load applications, including installations operating in dusty, harsh, and hostile environments.
Design & Construction Highlights
The JAYCO SNH Series housings feature a streamlined yet reinforced design to support higher loads and improved lubrication performance:
Strengthened bottom cavity with a thicker section
One central cross rib, providing enhanced rigidity
Additional rib at the top of the cap, improving overall structural integrity
Flat internal cavity design to ensure improved lubricant flow and smooth movement within the housing
Horizontally split housing, offering ease of bearing installation, inspection, and maintenance
Bearing Size Range & Configuration
Tapered bore bearings with adapter sleeve:
Shaft diameters range from 20 mm to 140 mm
Cylindrical bore bearings:
Shaft diameters range from 25 mm to 160 mm
These ranges define the limiting sizes for suitable bearing selection in the SNH Series.
Axial Location & Lubrication
Provision for locating ring for axial positioning of bearings, depending on bearing size and application requirement
Suitable for both grease and oil lubrication
Grease nipple provided on top of the housing for effective relubrication
For W33 type bearings with internal annular groove, the grease nipple is located at the center of the cap width
For other bearing types, grease nipples are provided on the sides, with suitable dimples on the cap
Sealing Options
To ensure reliable operation in severe conditions, JAYCO SNH Series bearing housings are available with multiple sealing arrangements:
Felt Seal – TC (felt collar with O-ring)
V Seal – TA
Double Lip Seal – TG
Labyrinth Seal – TS
Four Lip Seal – TL
Taconite Seal – ND (radial seal)
The wide choice of seals allows SNH housings to operate efficiently from medium load and speed up to heavy-duty conditions, including dusty and contaminated environments.
Drainage, Oil Level & End Cover Options
Drain hole with plug provided at the bottom of the housing for easy oil drainage
Provision for oil lubrication, including threaded connection for oil level indicator
End cover options available for closed-end shaft applications
Designated using suffix “A” with seal type, e.g.:
TC with end cover – ATC
TS with end cover – ATS
Foundation & Mounting Options
Standard housings are supplied with two foundation slot holes
On request, housings can be supplied with four foundation slot holes for applications involving high vibration or severe loading
Suffix Identification:
MS1 – Two foundation slot holes
MS2 – Four foundation slot holes
For extremely heavy-duty applications, SSNHD Series housings with solid base in ductile iron and four elliptical foundation slots are available.
Material Options
JAYCO SNH Series bearing housings are available in multiple material grades to suit different load conditions:
Graded Cast Iron – FG 220 (IS 210)
Cast Steel – Grade 280 - 520 (IS 1030)
Spheroidal Graphite (Ductile) Iron – Grade 400/15 (IS 1865)
Higher grades of the respective standards can also be supplied on request. These material options allow the housing to support substantially higher loads compared to conventional grey cast iron housings.
